Google Public Data Explorer, στατιστικά για πληθυσμούς, μισθούς, σχολεία, τιμές και δείκτες, τεχνολογία κ.α.
Η Google κυκλοφόρησε πρόσφατα πειραματικά την υπηρεσία Public Data Explorer που αναλαμβάνει να προβάλλει με γραφικό τρόπο διάφορα στατιστικά για τομείς και αντικείμενα όπως:
- Συγκρίσεις σχολείων
- Ανεργία
- Πληθυσμούς
- Φορολογίες
- Μισθούς
- Ισοτιμίες
- Στατιστικές για την εγκληματικότητα
- Στατιστικές υγείας (υγειονομικές)
- Στατιστικές για την αντιμετώπιση καταστροφών
- Ακαθάριστο Εγχώριο Προϊόν (ΑΕΠ)

Αν θέλουμε να εκμεταλευτούμε το χώρο που έχουμε στο gmail μας και να τον προσθέσουμε σαν δίσκο στον υπολογιστή μας για να αποθηκεύουμε αρχεία μπορούμε να κατεβάσουμε το πρόγραμμα Gmail Drive Shell Extension.
Το μόνο που έχουμε να κάνουμε είναι να το κάνουμε εγκατάσταση και μετά την εγκατάσταση να πάμε στο εικονίδιο Υπολογιστής (My Computer) και θα δούμε ότι έχει προσθεθεί ένας ακόμα δίσκος με την ονομασία Gmail Drive.

JSLint

The YUI Compressor is JavaScript minifier designed to yield a higher compression ratio than most other tools.

ΛΟΝΔΙΝΟ. Η Google παρουσίασε μια σειρά από νέες τεχνολογίες οι οποίες θα αναβαθμίσουν τις μηχανές αναζήτησης του γίγαντα των ιντερνετικών υπηρεσιών. Στην εκδήλωση, η οποία είχε τον χαρακτηριστικό τίτλο «Αναζητολογία», τα στελέχη της εταιρείας παρουσίασαν ένα πλήθος εφαρμογών που θα κάνουν τις μηχανές αναζήτησης πιο «έξυπνες». Η αναβάθμιση της νοημοσύνης των μηχανών θα έχει ως αποτέλεσμα να απαντούν στους χρήστες ταχύτερα και ακριβέστερα. Με απλά λόγια, ο χρήστης θα βλέπει άμεσα στην οθόνη του αυτό ακριβώς που ψάχνει, εμπλουτισμένο με πλούσιο οπτικοακουστικό υλικό, ώστε να έχει μπροστά του όλα τα διαθέσιμα δεδομένα.

Υλοποιήθηκε επιτέλους η δυνατότητα ενσωμάτωσης εικόνας στο σώμα ενός email, στο Gmail. Η λειτουργία μπορεί να ενεργοποιηθεί μέσω του Google Labs, του χώρου όπου πειραματίζονται οι προγραμματιστές της Google για διάφορες νέες προσθήκες και βελτιώσεις. Οι περισσότερες υπηρεσίες email έδιναν αυτή τη δυνατότητα εδώ και χρόνια, αλλά οι χρήστες του Gmail έπρεπε να στέλνουν τις εικόνες σαν συνημμένα αρχεία.
Τώρα αρκεί να ενεργοποιήσουν το “Inserting images” από το Google Labs που βρίσκεται στην καρτέλα Settings. Οι εικόνες μπορούν να ενσωματωθούν με δύο τρόπους, είτε με upload από τον υπολογιστή του χρήστη, είτε μέσω URL από κάποιο site.

Eίναι γεγονός ότι το google analytics είναι η κορυφαία πλατφόρμα μέτρησης και ανάλυσης στατιστικών για sites στο internet. Έχουμε ξεφύγει πλέον από την εποχή των web/stat counters (hitbox – statcounter και άλλα) των τελευταίων ετών και πλέον ο πιο ταπεινός blogger μπορεί να έχει πρόσβαση σε αυτή την πλατφόρμα που χρησιμοποιείται ακόμα και στα μεγαλύτερα sites εκεί έξω. Προσωπικά το έχω χρησιμοποιήσει σε sites με εκατομμύρια hits το μήνα με banner campaigns και μια πληθώρα από πηγές και απαραιτήτως μετρίσιμα events με επιτυχία.
Σήμερα μπορείτε και εσείς που έχετε κάποια εμπειρία με την πλατφόρμα αλλά και όσοι κάνετε τα πρώτα σας βήματα να μάθετε όλα όσα θέλετε να ξέρετε μέσω του νέου online course που κυκλοφόρησε η google. Είδα κάποια από τα μαθήματα και είναι πολύ χρήσιμα καθώς για πρώτη φορά συγκεντρώνονται με κατηγοριοποίηση σε ένα σημείο και δεν έχετε τίποτα άλλο να κάνετε παρά να χαμηλώστε τα φώτα και να τα απορροφήσετε καθώς είναι σε μορφή adobe presentation (στα αγγλικά). Επιπλέον, για πρώτη φορά έχουμε την δυνατότητα να γίνουμε επίσημα qualified στα google analytics περνώντας το ακόλουθο επίσημο test της google (50$ η συμμετοχή) . Μέτα μπορείτε να το βάλετε στο βιογραφικό η στο site σας (η να το κρεμάσετε στον τοίχο – whatever floats your boat) αλλά αν ασχολείστε έστω και λίγο με το web σίγουρα είναι γνώσεις οι οποίες θα σας φανούν χρήσιμες.

Μία από τις περισσότερο αναμενόμενες λειτουργίες που ζητούσαν πολλοί, ήταν η υποστήριξη χωρίς σύνδεση στο Internet. Η Google αποφάσισε να το κάνει και τώρα είναι διαθέσιμο για δοκιμές. Έτσι το Gmail μπορεί πλέον να λειτουργεί χωρίς σύνδεση ακριβώς όπως και ένας desktop mail client όπως το Outlook, το Thunderbird κλπ. Η offline υποστήριξη γίνεται δυνατή μέσω του Google Gears, το οποίο θα χρειαστεί να κατεβάσετε ώστε να χρησιμοποιήσετε τη δυνατότητα αυτή.
Σύμφωνα με τον Andy Palay της Google: “Όταν χάνεται η σύνδεση με το Internet, το Gmail αυτόματα μεταφέρεται σε offline mode, και χρησιμοποιεί τα δεδομένα που υπάρχουν στον υπολογιστή αντί για τα δεδομένα που υπάρχουν στο διαδίκτυο. Μπορείτε να διαβάσετε μηνύματα, να τα μαρκάρετε ως star, να θέσετε label κλπ, όπως θα κάνατε online”
Μόλις η σύνδεση με το Internet επανέλθει, τα μηνύματα που στείλατε θα παραδοθούν.
